Meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM by Paul Savchick. Present were Paul Savchick, Dick Brisbois, Judy Fowler, Kristy Foster, Dennis Sullivan and Ken McKenzie.
ADMINISTRATION Minutes of the 10/9/06 meeting were unanimously accepted.
3. BLUEBERRIES Ken McKenzie arranged for ECC members to attend the 12/2/06 meeting of the Sunrise County Wild Blueberry Association, Inc. in the Cherryfield, ME area so the ECC could learn how this cooperative) deals with their blueberries. Re: our fields, Arthur Harvey mowed about 1/3 of the Foss field – very low to the ground. Bob Tibbetts has begun mowing on Foss. Having someone to manage the whole Foss Mt. blueberry crop would be ideal, the question still being how to locate such a person. (As an historical note, Frank French, in the 1950’s, had 3 cabins just below the top of Foss with an antenna for a TV. Winds blew it all down and the main gate is made of that antenna!)
4. TREASURER’S REPORT Dick Brisbois reported
Eaton Conservation Fund $ 7,355.25
Forest Management Fund 33,986.21
$41,341.46
The CD is now $21,071.90.
5. BRIDGES Paul reported that ADM presently has nothing in stock. If ordering new to the exact ECC specifications, it will take about 90 days to get a bridge. The difference in price between a new and used bridge is 5 %. They require 1/3 of the cost up front. Bridges can be delivered by ADM and brought in to the site by local logging trucks. This would reduce the cost of roadwork. The plan is to order bridges in February for 90-day delivery. There is still some roadwork to be done.
6. SHORELAND ORDINANCE The study committee created a report that Paul passed out to ECC members for perusal. The Planning Board or the selectmen will decide the next step.
7. FUTURE ECC PROJECTS Development of a program to designate prime wetlands.
8. CONCERNS Paul will call Fish and Game officer Brian Abrams about getting signs re: ATV’s and snowmobiles on Town lands. He will also call Fred Goss about reinstalling the silt fence across from Waukeela as it is down again.
9. HANDBOOK for CONSERVATION COMMISION MEMBERS It was unanimously voted to reimburse Kristy for her purchase of the latest handbook and to purchase copies for all ECC members. Kristy will call NHACC about these.
The next meeting will be December 11, 2006 at 7:00 PM.
Meeting adjourned at 9:50 PM
.
Respectfully submitted by Judy Fowler.
