BOARD OF SELECTMEN
April 1, 2008 The regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen took place on Tuesday, April 1st, 2008 at the Evans Memorial Building. Present were: Rick Young, Don Philbrick and Aaron Blake. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p. m. The Selectmen reviewed checks and signed the accounts payable manifest for $170,053.99 for 23 items. The minutes for the meeting of March 25th were accepted as distributed. Adam Nelson renewed building permit #2701 for a house still under construction (Tax map R3, lot 26-1). The new permit number is 2801. Adam Nelson filed a building permit application for a new deck on property located off Rte 153. (Tax map R3, lot 26-1). It was reviewed, approved and signed by the Board of Selectmen (Building permit #2802). The fee of $5 was paid in cash. Ryan Bushnell signed a contract to manage his segment of the blueberry fields on Foss Mountain. Joan Kojola met with the Selectmen. She said she would like to help the Town out and the lack of an auditor had been brought to her attention. Rick Young made a motion, seconded by Don Philbrick to appoint Joan Kojola as the auditor. The motion carried unanimously. Joan Kojola was sworn in by Suzanne Raiche. A veteran’s exemption request was reviewed and denied because the applicant did not own the residence in which he resided as required by RSA 72:28. Signature items was a letter to a property owner requesting reimbursement for a false fire alarm. David Sorensen met with the Selectmen and updated them on Carroll County issues including the budget increase. Carol Mayhofer was in to sign checks. She also discussed the Town Hazard Mitigation Plan that Earle Mayhofer is working on. Legislative Bulletin #15 was distributed. A copy of the title transfer of the telephone land lines from Verizon to FairPoint Communications was received. UNH is hosting a seminar on managing growth on May 29th in Portsmouth. A workshop for Zoning Board of Adjustment members is being held on May 10th in Concord. Suzanne Raiche and Jeanne Hartman were in attendance.
